Redesigning Wealthtrack's Investment Management Application

Overview

Wealthtrack is a financial services company that offers investment and portfolio management services to individual and corporate clients. Wealthtrack's original desktop-only application has been in use for several years but has become outdated and difficult to use. The projects aim is to improve the user experience to attract and retain more customers. The project is focused on redesigning the application to make it more modern, user-friendly, and responsive to customer needs. As part of the new approach to the software; a new name and brand was created in order to better encapsulate the new, modern, updated experience: OneView. The new application is designed to be browser-based with a mobile-first approach to the design.

This project has been undertaken by a number of UX team members, I am the Lead UX across all aspects and the sole UI designer. Liaising with various departments and other teams to coordinate and plan the research and design of the project.

The Process

The product design process for the Wealthtrack application involved several stages, including research, design, and testing. The process had a significant impact on the final product design, as the team was able to gain valuable insights into user needs and preferences.

The Product Design Process

The Product Design Process

During the research stage, the team conducted user interviews, observation sessions, and surveys to gain insights into user needs and preferences. The research helped the team identify pain points and areas for improvement in the existing product. This information was used to create user journey maps that helped the team understand the user experience and identify key areas for improvement. The research findings were also used to inform the design process and ensure that the team was creating a product that met user needs.

In the design stage, I used the insights gained from the research phase to create a new design for the application. I focused on creating a mobile-first design that was responsive and easy to use on all devices. I also updated the visual design, navigation, and content of the application to make it more modern, user-friendly, and engaging.

The final stage of the product design process involved testing the new design with users to ensure that it met their needs and preferences. The team conducted usability testing to identify any areas where the design could be improved. The team also used feedback from users to make final adjustments to the design.
